Welcome to the Spratley Gifted Center Library
The Library program ensures that students are independent and effective users of information. Elementary students in grades 3-5 visit the Library as a class to receive Information Literacy instruction and to checkout books. The SGC Library collection has been developed to meet the reading needs of young gifted readers. Fiction books are chosen to be appropriate for the age of the student while providing novels that will expand their vocabulary and appreciation for writing. Nonfiction books are chosen to reinforce many of the topics covered in the core classes as well as areas of interest to the students.
Middle school students in grades 6-8 come to the Library on pass from their Language Arts teachers. They may also use the Library during their elective classes. Middle school students are welcome on a walk-in basis throughout the school day to study, take quizzes/tests or work on research.
The SGC Library provides a place conducive to reading, research and study. The Reading Garden is a part of the Library utilized by the students on fair weather days to enjoy reading outside as well as inside.
